London - AFP

Twice world champion Sarah Stevenson, who went into the Olympics heartbroken by the death of both her parents, will consider her future in taekwondo after crashing out in the first round on Friday. The 29-year-old fourth seed lost 5-1 to American Paige McPherson but said the "horrendous" last 18 months, in which she lost both parents to cancer, had helped her find a balance in her life. "The last year has helped put this event into perspective. I wanted to be here, I wanted to give 100 percent and I wanted to fight," she said. "This is the Olympics, it's not life or death, it's meant to be fun. There are more important things in life than taekwondo." And now Stevenson, a bronze medallist in Beijing four years ago, is considering life after taekwondo. "I'm going to have a holiday, rest, time out with family and think about where the future lies - maybe with taekwondo, maybe not."
