Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain has fuelled speculation of a possible move to Barcelona, saying he was happy to be linked to the Spanish giants, but his colleague Sergio Aguero ruled out any chance of a similar move.
Speaking after Argentina's 2-1 World Cup win over Bosnia at the Maracana Stadium, Higuain said he would relish the opportunity of linking up with Lionel Messi at club level.
"Any player would be pleased to play for Barcelona," the Napoli striker, formerly of Real Madrid, said.
"It speaks well of you as a player and it would make anyone happpy."
Asked about playing alongside Messi at the Camp Nou, Higuain added: "I would love to, obviously. I enjoy it here with the national team."
However Higuain played down any suggestions that a move was imminent following reports in Spain that a deal had been agreed.
"I'm not looking after it. My mind is on the World Cup," Higuain said.
Former Atletico Madrid star Aguero, now with Manchester City, has also been linked with a switch to the Catalans, who are rebuilding under new coach Luis Enrique after a trophyless 2013-14 campaign.
However, the 26-year-old insisted that he is happy to stay at City, with whom he has won two Premier League titles in three seasons.
"Every year it's the same. There's always talk of Real Madrid and Barcelona. I'm going to stay at City where I am very happy," he said.
