London - Arabstoday

Juventus missed the chance to return to the Serie A summit as they were held to a 0-0 draw at title rivals Udinese, but there were thumping wins for Inter Milan and Napoli. Antonio Conte's side lost their grip on top spot last night when AC Milan overhauled them with a 2-0 win over Cagliari, and tonight's stalemate left Juve level on 34 points with I Rossoneri but behind them on goal difference. Fourth-placed Lazio remained two points behind Udinese after being held to a goalless draw by a brave Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico. Inter, meanwhile, continued their revival by coming from a goal down to beat bottom-of-the-table Lecce 4-1 at the San Siro. Luis Muriel gave the visitors a surprise lead in the 19th minute, but Giampaolo Pazzini equalised for the hosts before the break and second-half strikes from Diego Milito, Esteban Cambiasso and Ricardo Alvarez completed the comeback. I Nerazzurri endured a dismal start to the campaign but have picked up of late and head into the winter break in fifth spot, eight points behind leading duo AC Milan and Juve. Six for stylish Napoli Napoli climbed to sixth with a 6-1 rout of Genoa at Stadio San Paolo. The hosts raced into a three-goal lead inside 25 minutes thanks to an Edinson Cavani brace and a Marek Hamsik strike. Cristobal Jorquera pulled one back for Genoa before Goran Pandev made it 4-1 at the break, and further goals from Walter Gargano and Camilo Zuniga added gloss to the scoreline in the second half. Luis Enrique's Roma moved up to seventh with an impressive 2-0 win at Bologna. Rodrigo Taddei put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute and Daniel Osvaldo doubled their lead before half-time, with Daniele Portanova's late red card for dissent compounding a miserable evening for the struggling hosts. Catania slipped down to eighth after their 3-3 draw at Parma. Francesco Modesto put Parma in front in the fifth minute, before Sergio Almiron and Jonathan Biabiany traded quickfire strikes to leave the hosts 2-1 in front. Sergio Floccari extended the lead to two goals, but Francesco Lodi reduced the deficit with a 74th-minute penalty and then substitute Andrea Catellani equalised five minutes from time. Win at last for Atalanta Atalanta ended a run of five league draws with a 4-1 home win over lowly Cesena. Antonio Candreva fired the second-bottom visitors ahead after 11 minutes but it was all the home side thereafter as a Guido Marilungo first-half double sent them on their way. German Denis also scored from the penalty spot before the break before Federico Peluso sealed what was in the end a comfortable, and long overdue, success for the Bergamo club. Finally, Novara recovered from a two-goal deficit to ensure Bortolo Mutti's first game in charge of Palermo did not end in victory as they battled out a 2-2 draw. A Carlalberto Ludi own goal and a strike from Nicolas Bertolo looked to have put Palermo on course for the win even in spite of Josip Ilicic's first-half red card. But Andrea Mazzarani started a Biancoazzurri fightback with 13 minutes left, and Marco Rigoni equalised with six minutes remaining to stun the visitors.
