Rumours concerning the veteran's return to Rio de Janeiro have persisted for months, but the player himself insists that they are a media invention.Roma defender Juan has poured cold water on speculation that he would be returning to Brazilian football with Flamengo in the next transfer window, and insisted that he has not talked with anyone regarding a move away from the Italian capital. The 33-year-old centre-back, who started his career with the Fla but has been with Roma since 2007, has been heavily linked with a transfer back to his home nation at the end of the 2011-12 season. The Rio de Janeiro giants, with whom he lifted three consecutive Carioca Championships between 1999 and 2001, have been mentioned as the most likely destination for Juan should he decide to leave Serie A.But speaking on Tuesday evening, the veteran asserted that no contact existed between him and his former club, and that he was 100 per cent committed to Roma."I have not spoken with anyone, much less with Flamengo. These are just rumours that have appeared in Brazil," Juan explained in declarations published by Globoesporte."My priority is Roma, and I am training to recover from injury as soon as possible."The defender has also made 82 appearances for the Brazil national team, lifting the Copa America in 2004 and 2007.
