The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided on 20 November 2012 to suspend Korea Republic’s player Park Jongwoo for two matches after he was considered to have breached art. 57 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (offensive behaviour and fair play) and art. 18. par. 4 of the Regulations of the Olympic Football Tournaments London 2012 for displaying unsporting behaviour after the match played between Korea Republic and Japan on 10 August 2012. Furthermore, the player has been ordered to pay a fine of CHF 3,500. As the above-mentioned match was the last one played by the men’s representative team of Korea Republic in the scope of the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament London 2012, the two-match suspension is carried over according to art. 38 par. 2 b) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, namely to the representative team’s next official matches in the same age group. Where the suspension cannot be served in the same age group, it shall be carried over to the next highest age category. The Committee took into account that the behaviour of the player, even though it appears not to have been premeditated or intentional, contradicts the principal idea and goal of sportsmanship and fair play, and therefore, cannot be tolerated. In light of the above, the Committee considered it appropriate to also impose a warning on the Korea Football Association and reminded it of its obligation to properly instruct its players on all the pertinent rules and applicable regulations before the start of any competition, in order to avoid such incident in the future. The Korea Football Association was warned that should incidents of such nature occur again in the future, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may impose harsher sanctions on the Korea Football Association. According to art. 118 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, this decision cannot be appealed against and is therefore final and binding. From : FIFA
