Madrid - Arabstoday

Veteran Bulgarian international forward Martin Petrov signed for La Liga strugglers Espanyol from English second tier side Bolton Wanderers on Monday until the end of the season. The 33-year-old - who played in La Liga before with Atletico Madrid from 2005-07 - came to an arrangement with Bolton to release him from his contract. "Martin Petrov signed for Espanyol after having passed his medical this morning and having signed a contract," said the club on its website. "He is the club's first signing in the winter transfer window." Petrov, scorer of 19 goals in his 88 international appearances, has also played for Swiss side Servette, Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg and Manchester City. Espanyol are presently fifth from bottom, just two points above the relegation places, after 19 matches. From FIFA
