London - Arab Today

Newly-appointed interim Swansea City manager Garry Monk addressed concerns about his inexperience by pledging to give the club "everything I have". Monk, 34, has been placed in temporary charge of the first team alongside coach Alan Curtis after manager Michael Laudrup was sacked following 19 months in the job. Assistant manager Morten Wieghorst, fitness coach Oscar Garcia and scout Erik Larsen have also left the club, while Monk will have only three days to prepare the team for Saturday's derby against Cardiff City. Although he has never before taken on a senior coaching role, having been on Swansea's books as a player until the time of his appointment as head coach, Monk says his knowledge of the club will stand him in good stead. "I will give everything I have for Swansea City," he told the club's official website. "I will promise the fans that. And I will ensure the players do exactly the same." "We are all in this together, and I will make sure we stick together. That is what Swansea City has been all about for as long as I can remember. I know this club inside out, and I will try and use that knowledge to the betterment of Swansea City. "I also know how important this football club is to the fans. They are the important ones in all this, and we will all fight every inch of the way for them. This is a proud moment for me, and I aim to do the best possible for this club and the loyal supporters." Laudrup was removed from his position at Swansea after a run of one win in ten Premier League games that left the Welsh club only two points above the relegation zone. Although the Dane guided Swansea to a maiden trophy success in last season's League Cup, the Swansea Supporters' Trust backed the board's decision to part company with him. "During its tenure at the club, the current board, including a representative of the Supporters' Trust, has made key decisions which have taken the club forward, and ultimately we believe that this decision has been taken with the best interest of the club in mind," the Trust said in a statement.
