Olympic Medal: W 5000 meters

Meseret Defar of Ethiopia won the Olympic gold medal Friday in the women's 5,000-meter run. Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya took the silver medal and Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia grabbed the bronze. Defar won over 5,000 meters at the 2004 Olympics and finished third four years ago. Dibaba's bronze was added to the gold medal she won earlier in these Games in the 10,000-meter run.
