London - Arabstoday

Teenager Tomas Rogic again showed his class with a spectacular second-half strike as Central Coast Mariners returned to winning ways with a 2-0 A-League victory over Wellington Phoenix at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford. Rogic, who scored his first goal in Mariners colours against Melbourne Victory last week, highlighted his potential when he fired home a perfectly-placed shot from the edge of the area in the 52nd minute. The 19-year-old picked up a loose ball, took a touch and then unleashed a curling left-footed effort that left Wellington goalkeeper Mark Paston with no chance. Top-of-the-table Mariners sealed the points when central defender Patrick Zwaanswijk headed home a Michael McGlinchey free-kick in the 83rd minute. Roar down Victory Second-placed Brisbane Roar claimed a 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory in an end-to-end battle at Suncorp Stadium that featured doubles for Besart Berisha and Harry Kewell. A comfortable 3-1 half-time lead for Roar was followed by a nervous second half, when Kewell continued a stand-out performance with a second clinical finish in the 50th minute. Carlos Hernandez rattled Roar's crossbar with a volley from 25 yards out in the final quarter of play, but in the end Berisha's brace and a penalty from Henrique, all in the first half, saw the hosts through to their third straight triumph. Boost for Perth Perth Glory gave their finals hopes a big boost, and dealt Newcastle Jets a significant blow, with a 2-0 win. Substitute Adam Hughes gave Perth the lead after 16 minutes but his side wasted several other opportunities, while twice hitting the woodwork, to extend their advantage in a first half they controlled. But Glory were finally rewarded for their dominance when Billy Mehmet scored in the 59th minute to lift Ian Ferguson's side up to third spot at the expense of Wellington.
