Argentinian Jorge Sampaoli was appointed coach of the Chilean national team on Monday replacing compatriot Claudio Borghi who left the post last month. Sampaoli, 52, has been tasked with securing Chile's place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ which sees them lying in sixth place in the CONMEBOL qualifying table after the side lost three in a row, following a bright start to the campaign. "I take this job on with a huge responsibility and obligation hanging over me to take Chile to Brazil (FIFA World Cup™ in 2014)," said Sampaoli. Sampaoli was handed the responsibility after guiding Chilean outfit Universidad de Chile to three national titles and the South American Cup in 2011. While Chile are in sixth position after nine games, they only trail fourth-placed Venezuela on goal difference. FIFA
