Silva 'relaxed' over Man City contract talks

The midfielder also concedes that his recent performances have struggled to match those of earlier in the season but believes that he has progressed since his arrival in 2010.David Silva insists that he is happy at Manchester City as the club look to open contract talks at the end of the season, though admits that his form has dipped in recent weeks.The 26-year-old has been a pivotal figure in City's push for Premier League glory since arriving from Valencia in July 2010 and the Spain international is content with his development following his transition from La Liga."I know City want to speak to my agents at the end of the season for a new contract, but I am relaxed," Silva told Goal.com."I have two years still left and I am happy here. I have progressed as a player since leaving Valencia and I am fighting to win titles. That was my aim when I left La Liga."City face the prospect of being eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United by the time they play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.Silva concedes that his form has dipped in the second half of the campaign and accepts that it is difficult to sustain high-calibre displays throughout the season."I am not performing as well as I was in the first part of the season, but that's normal," he continued."It's very difficult to stay at the same level for so long, but I am ready to help the team in the battles that lie ahead."Silva is adamant the pressure on City boss Roberto Mancini should also be applied to the club's players, conceding that missing out on the Premier League title would be "a disappointment"."Mancini under pressure? What about the players? City demand the maximum and up until now we haven't won anything this year," the Spaniard stated."Not being champions would be a great disappointment after having it so close, but we are going to fight until the end."The midfielder also praised the ability of Carlos Tevez, who returned to the City fold in March following a six-month absence after his alleged refusal to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.Silva also defended Mario Balotelli, a player whom Mancini said he "would've punched" had he been in the same team as the young Italian, claiming that the striker is capable of single-handedly changing a match."Tevez is a great player and nobody doubts that. I will not get into his conflict with the manager, but from a sporting point of view he is a footballer who brings so much on the field of play," said the 26-year-old."Mario is Mario. He is capable of turning a game with one piece of genius and then losing his nerve, but that's him. For me he is a footballer I prefer to have on my team than on the other team because he is capable of breaking down the opposition at any moment."
