Reigning world and European champions Spain should confirm their place in the 2012 European Championship finals when they entertain Liechtenstein this Tuesday. A win would mathematically confirm Spain's place in next summer's as winners of Group I and the side coached by Vicente del Bosque are overwhelming favorites to defeat Liechtenstein in the match, which is played in the city of Logrono in northern Spain. Spain have already won 4-0 away to Liechtenstein and although the visitors gave themselves a major morale boost with a fighting 0-0 in Lithuania at the weekend, they are bottom of the group and nowhere near as powerful a side as the Spanish. Spain coach Vicente del Bosque had the satisfaction of seeing his players fight back from 2-0 down to win a friendly 3-2 against Chile on Friday night in a match that was changed by the entry of Barcelona duo Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabrigas into the match. Del Bosque will make changes from Friday night's side, dropping Sergio Busquets into central defense to cover for the continued absence of Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol through injury. Iniesta and Cesc both have a good start of being in the starting 11, with Iniesta playing in a more forward role and Cesc partnering Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandez in central midfield. Del Bosque could be tempted to give big striker Fernando Llorente a place in attack, with either David Silva or Pedro Rodriguez, although in form Alvaro Negredo also has a made good case to kick the game off on the pitch. Meanwhile out of form Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, could have to await his opportunity on the substitutes' bench. Much has been made of the possible bad atmosphere between the Barcelona and Real Madrid players in the squad, but the players showed on Friday that they are united for the national cause. Although the fight that ended the Chile game was not good to watch, it did at least show that when they play for the same cause the players are willing to back each other up when it counts.
