Jordan’s bid for its first ever Olympic medal continues today when World No. 3 Mohammed Abu Libdeh goes for glory in the taekwondo 68kg event at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Abu Lidbeh has been drawn against Nigeria’s unseeded Isah Mohammed in the first round match at 1:15pm Jordan time. “It has been a great experience so far,” the 28-year-old said in a statement from the Jordan Olympic Committee. “I have trained very hard and feel good. The Olympics have the best 16 fighters in the world and there is no easy match so every opponent has to be respected. I will do my very best for Jordan.” Abu Libdeh is the second of three taekwondo athletes representing Jordan at London 2012. Youngster Raya Hatahet came up short against Jannet Alegria Pena of Mexico (12-1) in her preliminary round 49kg match. Hatahet was only included in the team two weeks ago after Dana Touran withdrew with an injury. Taekwondoist Nadin Dawani will start her matches on Saturday and Methkal Abu Drais runs the marathon on Sunday. From JT
