London - Arabstoday

Berti Vogts has agreed a contract extension which will see him stay on as Azerbaijan coach until 2014. The country's football federation, the AFFA, made the announcement in a statement today. Vogts took charge of Azerbaijan's national team in 2008, but recently hinted he would not stay on as coach after his side finished fifth in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A. However, the German has now agreed to extend his deal until 2014. AFFA president Rovnag Abdullayevin said on www.affa.az: "All members of the Executive Committee endorsed the idea of increasing the contract of head coach Berti Vogts. This is the right decision and we believe that successful results will follow in the (2014 FIFA) World Cup qualifying campaign." Azerbaijan have been drawn in Group F alongside Portugal, Russia, Israel, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg.
