The Western Sydney Wanderers climbed to second spot in the A-League standings on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Perth Glory at Pirtek Stadium. The hosts made the deserved breakthrough three minutes before half-time, Jerome Polenz rifling home at the second attempt after a neat one-two with Youssouf Hersi. A superb solo goal from Mark Bridge just after the hour mark doubled their advantage and then substitute Tomi Juric put the result beyond doubt 12 minutes from time. The result left the Wanderers two points clear of the third-placed Melbourne Victory and fourth-spotted Central Coast Mariners with three rounds to play. The Mariners were also in action on Sunday, and responded to conceding an Orlando Engelaar wonder goal by coming from behind to beat Melbourne Heart 2-1 at AAMI Park. Kim Seungyong's equaliser in first-half stoppage time and a second-half winner from substitute Bernie Ibini sealed all three points for the reigning champions, giving them a healthy four-point buffer over seventh-placed Sydney FC with the race for finals places hotting up.
