Marc Wilmots has been appointed Belgium's full-time coach on a two-year-contract that will run until the 2014 World Cup, the Belgian football federation (KBVB) announced Wednesday. Wilmots, a former Belgium international, had been in charge of the Red Devils on an interim basis for the past month following the departure of Georges Leekens, who opted to take over the reins at Club Brugge. "A month ago, Marc had taken over this role in unexpected and difficult conditions. Since then, he has succeeded incredibly quickly in making a big impression as a national coach on all the players and technical staff," read a KBVB statement. Belgium haven't qualified for a major international tournament since reaching the last 16 of the 2002 World Cup held in Japan and South Korea.
