Egyptian footballer Mohamed Aboutrika has been voted the Arab footballer of the year 2012/13 by readers of the Lebanese newspaper, Sport Event. The al-Ahly striker, currently on loan at UAE's Baniyas, gained 218 votes, leaving Tunisian star Youssef Msakni trailing in second place with 52. Moroccan playmaker Younes Belhanda was third in the list, with Saudi Arabian international Taiseer Jaber Al-Jassam and UAE's Ismail Matar completing the top five. Meanwhile, Emirati youngster Omar Abdul Rahman was voted young of the year following his outstanding displays in the January's Gulf Cup.
