Algerian shooting sports has won eight medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze) at the 11th Arab championships (men and women, individual and team events), being held in Doha, Qatar, since Monday, the Algerian federation governing the sport (FATAS) has said.
The gold medals were won by Yamina Lalouet (10m air pistol, cadet), Halla Medjiah (10m air pistol), Rachida Benfalami (10m air pistol, junior) and Rania Tikarrouchine (10m air rifle, cadet).
Algeria's silver medals went to Houda Chaabi (10m air rifle), Rachida Benfalami (10m air pistol, cadet) and Halla Medjiah who got a second medal in junior events (10m air pistol).
Algeria's only bronze medal at the tournament went to Chafik Bouaoud (10m air rifle).
Algeria is likely to snatch a ninth medal, as Yamina Lalouet is competing Sunday at the final of 25m air pistol.
On Monday, Algerian athletes will participate in trap events (seniors/individual and team events).
Algeria competes with twelve athletes, including four women, in the Arab event taking place the Qatari capital.
In addition to Algeria, Doha tournament has brought together some 300 athletes from Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon and Qatar (host country).
