Eighth World Military Golf Championship
Manama - Arab Today

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputised BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa to open tomorrow morning the 8th World Military Golf Championship.
The championship, held under the patronage of HM the King, will continue till November 21. It is organised by Bahrain Defence Force as part of the activities of the International Council for Military Sport (CISM).
BDF Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Vice President of Bahrain Golf Club Major General Dhiab Saqr Al Nuaimi paid tribute to HM the King for patronising the event, describing the royal support to military sport, in general, and the golf game, in particular, as a boost to Bahrain’s pioneering international status in organising events.
He also lauded the care given by BDF officials, notably Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, to ensure success of the championship. He underscored the key role played by the military sport in solidifying ties and bolstering cooperation between countries.
Sixteen countries are taking part in the championship. They are Bahrain, Canada, France, Botswana, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Namibia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and the USA. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Lebanon, Kuwait, Poland and the UAE will participate as supervisor.
