Dubai International Marine Club, DIMC, is organising the Traditional 43ft Dhow Sailing Championship under the slogan, ‘Brave Martyrs’ on Saturday 9th September at the beginning of the 2015 – 2016 marine racing season.
With the blessing of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the DIMC, and in support of the public feeling towards the soldiers of the country, the board members decided to dedicate this racing season to the brave martyrs of the UAE in Yemen.
The club president, board members and all employees of the club extended their sincere condolences to the leadership, families of the martyrs, their relatives and comrades "and the faithful who gave birth to these heroes to be a bulwark in the face of anyone, to keep our flag fluttering in the sky uplifting our nation’s honour."
H.H. Sheikh Mansour said that the sports sector believes in the national role of the brave soldiers and their great sacrifices in various fields. "We would like to give a clear message through naming the race as ‘Brave Martyrs’, that everyone unite behind one goal to maintain the security and safety of the community as well as to wipe out traitors and mercenaries from our country."
He said that all segments of society, including the sports sector and the marine sports family, will stand together with the armed forces, who stand side by side with the Arab coalition forces until victory in the battle for freedom.
The club board approved an amended schedule of marine races to be accessible for all members of society to participate in and contribute to the success of the event. DIMC headquarters is expected to start the registration on this coming Sunday. Terms and conditions will be distributed for the participants. The event is expected to witness huge participation due to its wide appeal to different segments of the society.
