Cairo - Arab Today

Hull City said they are interested in signing Ahly's Rami Rabia on a six-month loan deal but the Cairo giants said the English side's offer was to try the promising youngster. Steve Bruce, the coach of Hull, told BBC Radio Humberside that the English Premier League side were trying to bring Rabia in. "We'd like to have a look at him. He's one for the future. He's only 20 years old and he has a big future ahead of him. It would be nice to have a look at him for six months," said Bruce, whose Hull squad includes two Egyptians in right winger Ahmed Elmohamady and striker Gedo. However, in a statement on their official website, Ahly said they had rejected an offer from Hull to hand Rabia a trial. "We will only discuss the matter if we received an official offer from Hull to sign Rabia," the club's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said. The versatile 20-year-old defender is a key member of Ahly's squad. He usually plays as a central defender or holding midfielder in the team's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. He helped Egypt win the U-20 African Championship in Algeria earlier this year and earned four international caps with the Pharaohs' senior team. Source: Ahram Online
