His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent on Sunday a congratulatory cable to Board Chairman of Qadsia SC Sheikh Khaled Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the club's football team winning of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup of 2014.
In his cable, His Highness the Amir praised Qadsia's achievement and the club officials and players' efforts to elevate the flag of Kuwait high at regional and international sports events. His Highness the Amir also wished them all more success and prominence.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar congratulatory cables to Qadsia Chairman SC Sheikh Khaled Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Kuwait's Qadsia was crowned 2014 AFC Cup champions on Saturday after winning a penalty shoot-out 4-2 against Iraq's Irbil following a goalless draw at Maktoum bin Rashed Al-Maktoum Stadium in Dubai.
Qadsia have been runners-up twice over the last four years, and lost out on the title last year to their local rivals, Kuwait SC, which won the last two editions.
