Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, the "Liwa International Festival - moreeb dune events" will be held from 3rd - 9th January, 2015.
The festival, which is organised by Al Gharbia Sports Club, will include diverse and interesting activities and competitions that combine excitement, challenges and adventure, as well as heritage competitions.This festival offers a week-long celebration of UAE heritage with competitions and activities including bike riding and camping in the desert of Moreeb Dune.
Saif Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Director-General of Al Gharbia Sports Club, organisers of the festival, said the festival features a diverse array of exciting events and sports activities including remote car competition; Moreeb track champion; falcon race, camel and horse races, Moreeb champions for bikes and cars; and classic cars show.
Organisers say that the organising committee of the festival is keen to complete all arrangements and prepare equipment to create an exciting atmosphere for fans of adventure and challenging sports, as part of the club's commitment to provide new and innovative events during the festival.
The seven day festival brings together the region's most powerful four wheel drives and bikers to tackle Tel Moreeb - considered to be the world's tallest sand dune at over 300 metres high.
With a variety of races (cars, bikes, falcons, camels and horses), the event also features a classic cars show, fireworks display, variety of food stalls and kids play area– to make it a great week to enjoy.
