Prominent Lines L.L.C are set to organise the Muscat Prominent Cup football tournament Muscat Club in Al Wadi Al Kabir on January 3 and 4, its organisers informed. Prominent Cup, organised by Saif Rashid Al Mughairy and Sameer Ahmed Al Balushi will have 16 teams participating in the tournament. "This is for the first time a tournament is organised that Omani as well as expatriate teams participating," said Saif revealing the plans of the tournament. "If you look at football in general, it is being played in Oman by almost all the communities. But not many participate in these tournaments so we decided to step-up and do something innovative. When we announced our plans, we had overwhelming responses from the teams especially from Expat teams," he said. Six expatriate teams are participating in the tournament. Prominent Lines had previously organised successful events like 'Memories of Michael Jackson', 'Musical Laughter Night by JAL the band and Omar Sheriff', Music Generation by Bushoke and Triple S, Laughter Night by Shana Shakeel and several other shows. Organising a football tournament of this magnitude has been the dream of Saif and Sameer along with their friend Zuhair Al Khudhuri. "Our planning started six months ago and we were hunting for play grounds. We are glad that finally it is shaping place," said Sameer who had previously played football with Muscat Club. Due to grounds scarcity, Prominent Lines are having plans to buy their own land in order to convert it as a football ground. "It took us a lot of time to find a proper football ground in order to organise this tournament. So we thought it would be better if we have our own ground. We are going to buy a land and then convert it into a proper football ground in Wadi Hatat," Saif said. "We had organised some entertainment shows. Football is also another form of entertainment and we are going to focus fully in organising football tournaments in future as well," he said. As part of that, Prominent Lines have also plans to organise a Football League next year. "That is part of our plans and we are in talks with several people on this. A League needs a lot of homework and we are already doing that. Once Prominent Cup concludes we will think about organising the League" he said. Prominent FC, captained by Sameer will also feature in the tournament.  "We will have four groups of teams in the tournament. The date of the draw will be announced later. We are looking to have more sponsors for the event," Saif noted. "We would like to thank Mohammed Rashid Al Mughairy, who has helped during this course along with our coach Faisal Al Hinai for the support in setting up the tournament," Saif added. Times Of Oman
