The Bahrain Swimming Federation (BSA) has confirmed the programme for the 7th edition of the National Swimming Day Championship, to be held under the patronage of president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa from December 15 and 16.

The two-day event will take place at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town and marks Bahrain’s National Day and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s accession day.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and director of the tournament Omar Al Malki said registration for the championship is open for everyone who wish to take part.

"The event will cover five age groups – 10 years, 11 to 12 years, 13 to 14 years, 15 to 17 years, and adults from 18 years and above," said Al Malki

Al Maki noted that the programme of the championship will feature two sessions per day. The first session of the inaugural day tips off at 9am and continues until 12 noon with 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 150 freestyle.

In the two-hour evening session, which starts at 5pm, competitions in 200m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 4X100m freestyle will take place.

On the second day, the first session will comprise 50m freestyle, 100m breastroke, 100m butterfly and 800m freestyle, while the 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke and 4X100m medley is scheduled for the evening session.

Al Malki affirmed the Organizing Committee readiness as all arrangements have been made prior to the prestigious sporting championship .and welcomed citizens and expats alike to participate.

Entry fee for the National Day Championship is just BD3 per participant in each race, while the last day for accepting entries is December 10.
