Mclean - UPI

Kentucky is a unanimous No. 1 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll and three teams make the Top 25 for the first time this season in Monday's update. Kentucky (26-1), Syracuse (27-1) and Missouri (25-2) remain the first three teams, with the Wildcats getting all the first-place votes, the Orange receiving all the seconds and the Tigers taking all the third-place mentions for a second consecutive week. Duke (23-4) keeps the No. 4 spot and Kansas (22-5), which is the home team for a Big 12 showdown Saturday with Missouri, is again fifth. While the top of the poll is steady, there are big changes in the lower reaches. That includes Wichita State (24-4), which enters the poll at No. 19; New Mexico (22-4), coming in at No. 21; and Temple (21-5) occupying the No. 22 spot. Back near the top, Michigan State (22-5) moves from eighth to sixth, jumping over No. 7 North Carolina (23-4). Georgetown (20-5) is up one to No. 8 while Ohio State (22-5) goes from sixth to ninth and Marquette is up three places to 10th. Florida (21-6) inches up to No. 11 ahead of 12th-ranked Murray State (26-1) and Michigan (20-7), which improves six places to No. 13. Baylor (22-5), 10th a week ago, is 14th and Wisconsin (20-7) sits in 15th. Florida State (19-7) is up from 21st to No. 16 followed by Louisville (21-6) in 17th and Notre Dame (19-8) at No. 18. The Irish entered the poll for the first time this year last week at 25th. Wichita State is 19th while Nevada-Las Vegas (22-6) drops from 11th to No. 20. New Mexico and Temple are ahead of No. 23 St. Mary's (Calif.) (23-5), 24th-ranked Indiana (20-7) and No. 25 San Diego State (20-6). Virginia, Mississippi State and Gonzaga drop out of the Top 25 this week.
