Argentinean fans may have breathed a sigh of relies on Sunday as Federico Delbonis won the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech, Morocco, putting an end to 21 months without a title for Argentinean players.

Delbonis, 25 and ranked 47th in the world, saw off Croat Borna Coric by 6-2, 6-4, to win the second title of his career.

Fate could smile twice on Argentina today with its player, Juan Monaco, set to take on American Jack Sock in the final of an ATP tournament in Houston, Texas.

It has been almost three years since two Argentinean players were in finals on the same day. On August 4, 2013, Monaco was beaten by Spain's Marcel Granollers in Kitzbühel, Austria, while Juan Martin Del Potro saw off American John Isner in Washington.

However, the last Argentinean champion was Leonardo Mayer, who defeated David Ferrer in Hamburg, Germany, on July 20, 2014.

2015 was the worst year for Argentinean tennis in 18 years, with no titles for the country for the first time since 1997.

This country has struggled to replace a golden generation of players in the 2000s, when they could count on Gaston Gaudio, David Nalbandian, Guillermo Coria and Guillermo Canas, among others.

Juan Martin Del Potro, also a member of this group, is just now returning to action after suffering a number of injuries to his wrists in recent years.

In recent years, Argentina got to the finals of the Davis Cup in 2006, 2008, and 2011.
