Ryan Mattheus hit Andrelton Simmons with a pitch Saturday, forcing in the go-ahead run in the Atlanta Braves' 5-4 comeback victory over Washington. Trailing 4-1 after two innings, the Braves chipped away at the lead. Freddie Freeman's solo blast in the fourth cut it to 4-2 and Jason Heyward tied it up with a two-run shot in the sixth. Then in the eighth, David Ross singled to lead off the frame against Mattheus (5-2), and one out later Dan Uggla coaxed a walk, sending pinch-runner Jeff Baker to second. Mattheus issued another base-on-balls to Chipper Jones to load the bases and hit Simmons with a pitch, putting Atlanta ahead for good. The rally made a winner of Eric O'Flaherty (3-0) and Craig Kimbrel racked up his 36th save as the National League wild card-leading Braves clinched their three-game set against NL East-leading Washington. Adam Laroche cracked a two-run homer for the Nats.
