Mike Moustakas drove in three runs on three hits Tuesday and Kansas City held off the Detroit Tigers 9-8. Alex Gordon had two RBI and Moustakas drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning double for the Royals, who ended both their own two-game losing skid and Detroit's two-game winning streak. The Tigers remained two games behind the White Sox in the AL Central. Aaron Crow (3-1) grabbed the win after allowing a game-tying home run to Jhonny Peralta in the top of the eighth inning. Greg Holland picked up his eighth save after allowing Detroit to put the tying run on third base in the top of the ninth. Prince Fielder drove in two runs for Detroit with a double and Delmon Young hit a two-run homer in the Tigers' three-run first inning. Young also made a bid for a go-ahead homer in the ninth that was ruled foul after a video review by the umpiring crew. Brayan Villareal (3-4) took the loss in relief of Detroit ace Justin Verlander, who allowed eight runs on a dozen hits over 5 2/3 innings.
