Abe Lodwick scored 16 points Monday and Washington State hung on to down Pittsburgh 67-66 in the first game of the College Basketball Invitational. Talib Zanna's 3-point play with 1 minute left pulled the Panthers to within two points at 67-65, but Pittsburgh then missed a pair of field goal tries and Zanna couldn't sink a potential game-tying foul shot with 4 seconds left. Reggie Moore added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Cougars (19-16), who will take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series into Wednesday's Game 2 in Pittsburgh. Tray Woodall supplied 16 points and seven assists while J.J. Moore also netted 16 points for the Panthers (20-17).
