World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who suffered an ankle injury during the Davis Cup World Group quarter-finals with the United States, said his participation at the Monte Carlo Masters was uncertain, media reported Monday. "The season on the clay begins... I would like to play in Monte Carlo, where I live. I love that tournament, I am optimist, but I do not know if it is realistic," Djokovic was quoted as saying by Serbia's Beta News Agency. Talking about his injury, Djokovic said he had "avoided the worst degree of distortion". "My ankle swelled... but I have to check how serious it is and then to estimate if I can play in Monte Carlo," from April 14 to 21, he said. But the No. 1 was more optimistic regarding his participation at the French Open at Roland Garros in Paris, which is the only Grand Slam that eludes him. "Roland Garros is still far away," he added. Djokovic has earlier said that winning in Paris was one of his main goals for 2013, along with the Davis Cup. Djokovic's victory over Sam Querrey on Sunday helped take Serbia into the semi-finals of the Davis Cup, where they will meet Canada in September. From: AFP
