Yongchuan - Xinhua

DPR Korea women's soccer national team have aimed for a top-four finish in the 2012 London Olympic Games in the aftermath of an doping issue. Their head coach Sin Ui-Gun expressed the determination to reach the last four in London in the ongoing Yongchuan Four-Nation Invitation, saying that the squad were not affected by the up-to-18-month bans of five players who tested positive for steroids in July's World Cup. "We are not weakened after losing some players and our goal in the Olympics is to reach the semifinals," said Sin, after beating South Korea 1-0 in the first round of the four-nation tournament. "Now we've got young players. They have a bright future and their performance are highly-anticipated." Sin explained that the players failed the test because they "mistakenly took banned substance in medical treatment". The DPR Korea team, now ranked world No. 9, were also banned from the 2015 World Cup as a result of doping violations. Talking of the hard-earned 1-0 victory over South Korea, Sin attributed the win to the strength of "willpower". "We had a hard match. But we beat the opponents because of the willpower, not by the advantage of physical strength or techniques."
