Daegu - Xinhua

It was a dramatic Sunday night in the Daegu Worlds that the world's fastest man Usian Bolt was expelled from the men's 100m final for a false start while unknown Ethiopian Ibrahim Jeilan claimed the men's 10,000m with a final straight burst. Bolt, the reigning Worlds and Olympic champion and world record holder, falsely commenced his start before the gun was fired. He sprinted away several meters and took off his shirt, obviously realizing that he would be disqualified. With a face of pain and regret, Bolt was out, marking a dramatic ending to his ambition to snatch another sprint double in the 100m and 200m, after his legendary wins in Berlin two years ago. However, the Jamaicans could not miss the gold medal as Yohan Blake stood out to retain the title and fame for the fastest country in the world. After the restart, Blake stormed to cross the finish line in 9.92 seconds, which was his personal season best. The 21-year-old sprinter thus became the youngest world champion in the men's 100m. "When Bolt did the false start, I was so surprised because we had been talking about that in training and now it happens," Blake told reporters after the sprint. "After the false start of Bolt I knew that I had to keep my head and to do the job for him. Refocus and get the job done." Walter Dix of the United States took the silver with 10.08 seconds. Kim Collins, from the Caribbean nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, picked up the bronze medal in 10.09 seconds. The men's 10,000m race earlier already saw a similar story where 22-year-old Ibrahim Jeilan fought to keep Ethiopia's dominance after the great distance runner Kenenisa Bekele pulled out with 10 laps to go in the 25-lap race.
