Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and decided to bat against South Africa in their group one match in Chittagong on Saturday. South Africa were without their T20 captain Faf du Plessis who failed to recover from a hamstring injury and in his place AB de Villiers was leading the team. South Africa were lucky to include paceman Dale Steyn who recovered in time from a hamstring injury. The match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium is the first in group one. England, New Zealand and the Netherlands are the other teams in the group from which two teams will qualify for the semi-finals. The final is in Dhaka on April 6.
