England were chasing 148 runs to win for the first time on their Australian tour after dismissing the Cricket Australia Invitational XI early on the final day in Sydney on Saturday. The tourists bowled out the invitational side for 261 in an extended morning session with pace bowlers Steve Finn and Boyd Rankin leading the way. Finn, who has proved expensive in this match as he chases England's third seamer's spot in next week's Ashes series opener in Brisbane, claimed three for 88 off 20.5 overs while Rankin captured three for 46. That gave Finn eight wickets in the match but he conceded 191 runs as compared to the 69 runs off Stuart Broad's bowling. The CA invitational side, resuming the day at 153 for four, added 108 for six wickets as they played on before lunch with the home team nine wickets down. Ryan Carters scored 40, Kurtis Patterson 22 and Chris Tremain 20 for the home side. England have drawn the opening two tour games in Perth and Hobart, but last week's four-dayer against Australia A had two entire days washed out. The first Test gets underway in Brisbane on Thursday.
