World No. 1 Roger Federer raced through a straight-set quarterfinals win Friday at the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament. Federer, a two-time defending champion in his hometown tournament, rolled over Benoit Paire 6-2, 6-2 in 54 minutes. Federer lost only seven points on serve, including 24-of-25 when he landed his first serve. He won half the points and half the games when Paire served. Second-seeded Juan Martin del Potro claimed a spot in Saturday's semifinals with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 decision over Kevin Anderson. Anderson pounded out 20 aces and didn't drop his serve until the third set when del Potro managed two breaks. Del Potro was good on a strong 85 percent of his first serves and won 70 percent of the points when serving. Richard Gasquet, the No. 3 seed, topped sixth-seeded Mikhail Youzhny 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), seeing only one break point in the process. Also, wild-card entrant Paul-Henri Mathieu edged Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). Federer goes against Mathieu Saturday. He's 5-0 lifetime against Mathieu.
