Big-hitting Chris Gayle is out of the West Indies side for their must-win final World Cup Pool B match against United Arab Emirates in Napier on Sunday.
West Indies skipper Jason Holder, who won the toss and elected to bowl first, said Gayle had failed a late fitness test on his troublesome back, and has been replaced by Johnson Charles.
The West Indies need to win the match ahead of approaching rain if they are to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The West Indies go into the match two points behind Pakistan and Ireland, who clash in Adelaide later Sunday, and with the three sides in contention for the remaining two quarter-final spots.
A win to the West Indies should get them through on a superior run rate, but with rain forecast late in the day they cannot afford a washout as one point for an abandoned game will not be enough.
"It's all about putting it together today. We are going to field first," Holder said on winning the toss.
"It's a must-win for us. We have to just come in and execute our plans. We've got one forced change. Unfortunately, Chris Gayle pulled up with a sore back this morning, so Johnson Charles gets his first game."
