No. 3-seeded Kaia Kanepi picked up a second-round win Wednesday but second-seeded Maria Kirilenko left the Korea Open tennis championship with an injury. Kanepi had little trouble in a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Galina Voskoboeva. Kanepi lost her own serve once while cashing in five of her six break chances against Voskoboeva. She also took 57 percent of the points when receiving serve. Wild-card entrant Lee So-ra advanced to the second round when Kirilenko was unable to continue the match. The match was tied 1-1 -- both players recorded a break -- when play was stopped due to a back injury suffered by Kirilenko. No. 4-seeded Nadia Petrova defeated Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6-2, 6-4 without dropping serve. Dominguez Lino had five break-point chances but Petrova saved them all in the first-round match. Also in the first round, Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez got by Eleni Daniilidou 6-2, 6-3 and Tamira Paszek beat Carla Suarez Navarro 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 in a lengthy 2-hour, 11-minute match. Kiki Bertens rallied her way into a second-round win, beating Silvia Soler-Espinoza 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. The seesaw second set saw a total of six breaks.
