Miami - Arab Today

Frenchman Victor Dubuisson's surprise run to the World Golf Championship Match Play Championship final has earned him a special temporary US PGA Tour membership for the remainder of the season. The PGA announced Wednesday that Dubuisson has accepted the membership, which figures to extend his first US trip for tournaments for a few months. Australian Jason Day defeated Dubuisson in 23 holes in the championship match of the $9 million event in Arizona. The finish gave Dubuisson 409 points in the PGA season playoff race, more than the 150th-place finisher on last year's list, to earn the special invitation. In earlier US events this year, Dubuisson shared 40th at Riviera, 13th at Pebble Beach and 59th at Torrey Pines. The status allows Dubuisson to accept an unlimited number of sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the season as he tries to earn playing rights for the 2014-2015 campaign. Dubuisson is well on his way to doing that with $1,061,906 in prize money already this season. While he is not now eligible to compete in the US PGA's season-ending playoffs, Dubuisson could qualify by winning a tour event over the next five months. Source: AFP
