Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska survived a rough first set en route to a third-round victory at the China Open. Radwanska, who is the defending champion of the event, got by Lourdes Dominguez Lino for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win. However, she finished off all seven of her break chances the rest of the way, including getting four in the third set. Radwanska came out ahead of a series of seven breaks in the third set, taking the ninth game with a break and then holding serve to advance. Carla Suarez Navarro beat Jelena Jankovic 7-5, 6-4 in a match that had 16 breaks in 22 games. Second-seeded Maria Sharapova didn't lose her serve in a 6-2, 6-2 romp past Sorana Cirstea and qualifier Polona Hercog just got by Ekaterina Makarova 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) in a 2-hour, 49-minute match. Those matches completed the second round. Sharapova and Hercog are paired against each other in the third round.
