Defending world champion Brittney Reese of USA collected the gold medal in the women's long jump with a first-attempt leap of 6.82 meters at Daegu worlds on Sunday evening. Of the seven attempts for all 12 jumpers in the final, Reese only got the mark in her first attempt. Her other six attempts all ended up with fouls. Olga Kucherenko of Russia took the silver medal with a fourth-attempt leap of 6.77 meters. Ineta Radevica of Latvia won the bronze with a final-attempt leap of 6.76 meters, which is also her personal season best.
