Memphis - UPI
Andy Roddick suffered another early exit Wednesday, falling to Xavier Malisse in the opening round of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships. Roddick, who withdrew with an injury during the second round of the Australian Open and lost in the quarterfinals to Denis Istomin at the SAP Classic last week, was ousted 7-6 (10-8), 7-5. Roddick was the No. 2 seed in this event. Malisse advanced to take on Benjamin Becker, who was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Dudi Sela. Third-seeded Radek Stepanek reached the second round with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Bobby Reynolds and will take on Ryan Sweeting, who won his first-round match Tuesday. Milos Raonic, the fourth seed, won over Ernests Gulbis 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to set up a confrontation with Philipp Petzschner. Petzschner ousted Julien Benneteau 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6). In other matches Wednesday Jurgen Melzer outlasted Istomin 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), Kevin Anderson defeated Robby Ginepri 7-5, 6-3 and Lukasz Kubot eliminated Jesse Levin 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
