Romania were held to a 10-10 draw by English club side Yorkshire Carnegie in a World Cup warm-up match at Headingley on Friday.
Romania, who are in the same World Cup group as France, Ireland, Italy and Canada, were 10-3 up at the interval.
A penalty from Florin Vlaicu edged them in front and a try from South African-born backrow forward Randall Morrison, converted by Vlaicu, boosted their dominance.
The home side had to be content with a Harry Leonard penalty.
Yorkshire deservedly levelled in the second half when James Fitzpatrick powered through a gap in the Romanian defence from a fine pass from Pilgrim to score.
Leonard added the conversion to level the contest.
"I thought we were a bit off in the first half but that is only natural in our first pre-season game," said Yorkshire coach Bryan Redpath.
"Romania are a big, tough side and we responded well to that challenge."
