David Rudisha of Kenya took the gold medal of the men's 800m race in one minute and 43.91 seconds on Tuesday night at the Daegu World Championships. Abubaker Kaki of Sudan took the silver by clocking 1:44.41. Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia collected the bronze in 1:44.49. Rudisha, though at 22, is already a big name in the men's 800m. He set the current world record of 1:41.01 in the Italian city Rieti last August. His season best is 1:42.61, the only runner of the eight in the final whose mark is in the sub-1:43 territory. With the victory, he added a gold medal for the African athletic power, which swept all the six medals in Day 1 of the Daegu worlds on Saturday.
