New Delhi - AFP

Pragyan Ojha marked his comeback with a career-best 6-72 as India restricted the West Indies to 304 in their first innings on the second day of the opening Test on Monday. The left-arm spinner, returning to the Test side after a year, bagged his maiden haul of five or more wickets in an innings as the tourists added just 48 runs to their overnight total of 256-5 in 17.2 overs. India were 39 for no loss in reply at lunch. Gautam Gambhir was unbeaten on 22 while Virender Sehwag, who was bowled off a Fidel Edwards no-ball in the last over before the break, was on 15 not out. Ojha took three of the five West Indies' wickets to fall in the opening session, while fast bowler Ishant Sharma and debutant off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin each got one wicket. Ashwin finished with 3-81 off 27 overs. Ojha struck in his opening over when he trapped Carlton Baugh leg-before after the batsman had added eight runs to his overnight score of 19. Baugh put on 69 for the sixth wicket with Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Chanderpaul also did not last long as he fell leg-before to Sharma while attempting to work the ball on the on-side after adding just seven runs to his overnight score of 111 He hit two sixes and seven fours in his 196-ball knock for his 24th Test century. Ravi Rampaul (12) and skipper Darren Sammy (five) were also trapped leg-before on a low, slow pitch before Ojha ended the innings when he had Fidel Edwards (10) caught by Sehwag at point. India's Sachin Tendulkar, the world's leading scorer in both Test and one-day cricket, needs just one hundred to complete an unprecedented 100 international centuries. The remaining two Tests will be played in Kolkata and Mumbai.
