South African prop Schalk Ferreira is set to sign for French giants Toulouse as a replacement for the injured Georgian Vasil Kakovin, a source close to the Top 14 club revealed on Saturday. Ferreira, 29 and presently with the Eastern Province Kings, can also play hooker and would help fill a place in the front row which has been decimated by injuries. Kakovin ruptured the cruciate ligaments in his right knee, fellow prop Antoine Guillamon fractured a bone in his right hand and Kakovin's compatriot hooker Jaba Bregvadze is also out for a long time with a triple fracture of the mastoid, all of them suffering the injuries in the 40-3 thrashing of Bayonne last weekend. Ferreira, who came through the youth system with Western Province but had to at one point halt his career because of a neck injury before resuming it in 2012, is yet to sign, according to Toulouse president Jean-Rene Bouscatel. "We are in discussions," he told RMC Sports. "If he agrees he will come. We hope that is the case, but it is not yet a done deal." Source:AFP
