Hard-hitting batsman Shaimon Anwar cracked an unbeaten 77 runs to help UAE register an exciting two wicket win over Scotland with just one ball to spare and register a clean 2-0 sweep of the International Cricket Council World Cricket League Championship one-day matches at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Creditable victory Though Scotland scored an impressive 205 for 9 in their second one-day match of the series, Anwar played a responsible knock off 107 balls with four boundaries and a six. It was indeed a creditable victory for the UAE despite their middle order batsmen collapsing after a good start. UAE lower order batsmen Rohan Mustafa (23) and Amjad Javed (13) provided good support to Anwar to ensure the victory. Earlier, opener Amjad Ali and Arshad Ali put on 53 runs. Arshad got run out for 11 but Amjad and Anwar took the score to 74 before Amjad fell for 33 runs. Scotland looked like getting the upper hand when UAE star batsman Saqib Ali fell for four runs and skipper Khurram Khan was trapped by Preston Mommsen for six runs. Swapnil Patil, who cracked a half century in the first match, fell for three runs. Vikrant Shetty followed for eight runs.
