Mark Martin earned his fourth Sprint Cup pole of the season Friday, finishing first in qualifying for the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway. This will be Martin's 15th race of the year. It was the 55th pole of Martin's career, which places him in a tie with Bill Elliott for seventh on the all-time list. Carl Edwards was the second-quickest in qualifying, was followed by Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne. The Top 10 was completed by Trevor Bayne, Martin Truex Jr., Marcos Ambrose, Landon Cassill and Paul Menard. Ambrose won last week's race at Watkins Glen, N.Y.
