Olympic tennis doubles silver medallists Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic said Monday they would team up again for next season after an emotional split in 2013.
"We both know that together we have the best chance to win something and that it doesn't make sense to start anything new," 29-year-old Hradecka told the tennis-arena.cz website in an interview.
Hlavackova, ranked 15th for doubles, and 22nd-ranked Hradecka have together won two grand slam titles, the Fed Cup and the silver medal at the London Olympics.
The pair split in October 2013, shortly after winning the US Open, as Hlavackova decided to try her luck with fellow Czech Lucie Safarova.
Hradecka meanwhile teamed up with Michaella Krajicek, a Dutch player with Czech roots, but neither of the doubles pairs did particularly well.
"I was the one who decided for a change in autumn last year so... it's clear that (the comeback) was my initiative," said Hlavackova, who is 28.
"I apologised for something, we sorted a few things out. You don't know what you have until you lose it," she added.
"It's like in a relationship -- after five years you no longer appreciate some things and find other things attractive."
"Now we have decided to draw a thick line and never discuss these things again."
Being nominated for the Fed Cup finals against Germany in Prague on November 8-9, Hlavackova and Hradecka have recently tested their form at two smaller tournaments in France.
They won at Poitiers, then lost in the quarter-final in Nantes.
"I guess we're both reasonable and we know what we want to achieve and what we have already achieved," said Hradecka.
"Standing on the court with a grand slam trophy, having an Olympic medal, those are fantastic experiences, and when you have a chance to do it again, it would be a mistake not to try."
