Perigueux - Arabstoday

Fiji's 2009 French championship winning wing Samueli Naulu was killed in a car crash on Saturday, local police and his club confirmed. According to the police the 31-year-old, who was playing for fifth division side Bergerac, lost control of his car at around 0500GMT and hit a tree some 20km south of Bergerac. Naulu, who played for Fiji's Under-21 side, was switched to the wing from flanker on arriving at Perpignan in 2005 and was an impressive performer in their title winning season. However, he left for Limoges a year later and after just a season there moved onto Bergerac. There was a moving tribute paid to him by two of his fellow title winning team-mates now at Toulon. Centre Maxime Mermoz and scrum-half Nicolas Durand displayed a banner saying: 'Rest in peace Samueli', before their Top 14 match with Stade Francais. Source: AFP
